Is This Legal?
That's a question we get asked quite a bit. The answer, of course, is yes.
Heres how the process works. You purchase the gun from Fox River Guns. Because of state and federal gun laws, the firearm cannot be shipped directly to you. It has to be shipped to someone near you who has a Federal Firearm License (FFL), which is where you would pick up the gun. This local FFL makes sure that you are in compliance with any local, state and federal laws.
I'll give you an example: Let's say I want to buy a new gun from a legally authorized local dealer. I would go in to his store, fill out all the appropriate paperwork, and pay my money. Then, after the end of my waiting period (courtesy of the Brady Bill), I go in and pick up my new gun. How is buying from Fox River Guns different? Well, you'll still have to go in to your local FFL and sign papers, and go through the same legal process of transferring ownership of that gun as if you were buying the gun from the dealer (unless you're an FFL holder, yourself.) But with a dealer, you're pretty well stuck with the dealer's prices. You may shop around from dealer to dealer, but you usually don't get a very good deal.
Buying something online at Fox River Guns gives you the opportunity to find that something at a much lower price. You don't have the convenience of handling the firearm before buying it. But a reputable dealer like Fox River Guns will let you return the weapon unused for a refund, if it doesn't meet with your satisfaction.
Finding a cooperative FFL is usually not an issue. There are several databases of FFL holders posted on our ORDER FORM page. Any store that sells firearms (legally) is an FFL holder. They'll be able to manage the transfer of your gun from the Fox River Guns to you. Of course, that means you'll have to go find an FFL holder, but there are over 90,000 in this country - we don't think that'll be a problem. Just visit your local gun store, they'll know what you're talking about.
The FFL dealer will charge you a nominal fee for completing the transfer. The national average is about $20. Make sure to verify what the fee is. If its much more than $20., keep looking for another transfer dealer.
Here are several FFL databases, with FFL who have agreed to do transfers: GUNBROKER FFL NETWORK, AUCTION ARMS FIND AN FFL, GUNSAMERICA FFL TRANSFERS.
We normally ship your firearm within 3 to 5 days of receiving your payment and FFL.
